It’s been far too long since this self-proclaimed half-assed blogger posted anything, so here we are with my go-to: my recurring currently posts. Spring 2017 has been pretty amazing so far, full of a lot of travel, a lot of family time, a lot of work, and friend time when I can fit it in. As of today, we’re in May’s third week and I’ve spent 12/22 days in different states/cities (New Orleans, Washington State, Virginia). Some highlights of the month include my husband surprising me with a trip to visit an old friend for Mother’s Day, visiting said old friend, taking PTO for the first time in over a year and exploring New Orleans.
LOVING: I always have a love-hate relationship with summer in North Carolina, but right now I’m choosing to love it. This coming weekend we are going to the pool for the first time since last summer and I’m looking forward to that. I’m also loving fires on our new back deck, am excited to hang our new string lights, and I’m working to get the back deck area fully decorated. Hoping for a beach trip soon, maybe in Charleston while visiting my sister.
READING: I haven’t been reading much at all lately because I’ve been so busy. However, I decided last night that was going to change and I went to the library this morning on my way home from the chiropractor. I got three books—Swimming Lessons by Claire Fuller, The Girls by Emma Cline, and Lillian Boxfish Takes A Walk by Kathleen Rooney. You can follow me on Goodreads to see my reviews and other books I’ve read this year.
LISTENING TO: Harry Styles’ new stuff. Ed Sheeran’s Divide album (is anyone not listening to this?). “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur. iSpy by Kyle and Lil Yachty (CAN. NOT. STOP.). “Passport Home” by JP Cooper. Send me your favorite music of the moment!
WATCHING: I recently finished Girlboss, which I loved. It reminded me a lot of Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23, another show my husband and I still quote. We recently changed our WiFi name to “Two Dope Bitches.” (Watch Girlboss and you’ll get it.) We are also watching Bates Motel and I don’t think we’ll be finishing it. If you’re bored, watch it. That’s what it’s good for. It’s only season two and it’s already ridiculous. I can’t imagine it getting better, but maybe? Have any of you finished the whole series? And The Bachelorette starts tonight!
ANTICIPATING: Meeting some goals. I’ve set some personal/professional goals I’m striving to reach by the end of the year, so I’m hoping I meet those. I’m also just really glad things are settling, at least for a little bit.
PLANNING: Some home improvement projects that are mostly no fun, like staining our absurdly large deck. FML! Also planning some routine changes I’ll probably blog about later.
WORKING ON: Working out. Does this count? I’ve been making a serious effort to work out five days a week as of recently. My husband made me a workout plan I’m really into. It takes only 30 minutes a day and leaves me feeling great. We’ve also been going on more walks recently which won’t last long (that Carolina heat is killer). Last thing: I’m trying to be a better blogger. No promises, but keep an eye out (or better yet, subscribe!) for home improvement projects, DIYs, mom stuff, routine posts, etc.
WISHING: I had infinite funds and could decorate my backyard like basically anything off my Pinterest board. This reminds me that you should follow me! I pin some good stuff, if I do say so myself.
EXCITED ABOUT: Summer (sort of). And because it’s almost summer, I can be honest and say I’m excited for fall. Just a few short months left! #mostbasic Ha! I also picked up some pretty cute stuff from Madewell recently. That excites me. Most importantly, I’m excited to just relax for a few months. I don’t know how you jetsetters do it.
EATING: Let me be disgusting for a minute. My coworkers has me completely addicted to these peanuts. I know, I know… I hate me too.
