Fall is easily my favorite season, followed by winter, and fall 2016 has been pretty great so far. I love all the blanket scarves, chilly days, warm drinks, and layering basically all my clothes. I love all things plaid, homemade soup, and all the basic white girl stuff like pumpkin spice and baking. I’m not ashamed. You shouldn’t be either. There’s a reason those things are so popular.
I feel like my life is in a huge transitional season at the moment (I’m sensing a trend?) so there are a lot of new things to share. Check it all out below! You can also see what last year’s currently | fall looked like.
LOVING: This sounds so dumb, but…cooking. I had really been lazy in this area of my life for awhile and Dom was doing most of the cooking. I usually love it, especially baking, but most of my evenings are spent catching up on whatever work I couldn’t get done during the day when I was with the kids. I’ve been in the kitchen quite a bit lately (these flourless pumpkin muffins, our favorite pulled pork, and some amazing tuna noodle casserole are all things I’ve made this week) and I didn’t realize how much I missed it until I got going again. It helps that fall is the perfect season for baking.
READING: Really slacking in this department lately thanks to the busyness of life and I sort of hate myself for it. I can’t remember the last time I went to the library and it breaks my heart. As always, I’m reading for work, but I’m also in the middle of starting the Harry Potter series over again. I need to step my game up here.
WATCHING: I could honest go on forever and ever in this category because fall TV is SO GOOD, and fall 2016 TV is even better. My favorite shows right now are HBO’s new series “Westworld,” NBC’s “This Is Us,” and Dom and I finally started watching “Narcos.” My favorite show ever, “The Affair,” will be back on Showtime Nov. 20th and I cannot. freaking. wait. I love it so much. But anyway, “Westworld” is incredible and so enthralling, and “This Is Us” makes me weep almost every single episode. I can’t wait to see how both play out. And why didn’t someone force me to watch “Narcos” sooner? (This isn’t a serious question. Dom has been begging me to watch it for months and I’ve been saying no, but I finally caved and I’m so glad I did.) Also, after rereading last fall’s currently, I have to take back that I hated Noah (from “The Affair”). I love how unreliable both narrators are (speaking in terms of Alison and Noah), and after seeing last year’s finale I think Noah has some honorable qualities. I don’t want to give it all away though, so go watch!
ANTICIPATING: A lot. I don’t know where to begin with this. Like I mentioned above, life is in a huge transitional season our family. I’m anxious for a lot of things, but if I had to choose one, I’m waiting for January/February to see how some changes in my job play out.
PLANNING: On getting my life together? Is that something I should type? With Leo having been in the hospital at the beginning of the month for just under a week, life feels very behind right now. I’m working hard to play catch up still and I’m looking forward to getting to where I want/need to be with work, our house, etc.
WORKING ON: Building a new deck! I plan to share the before and after of this once it’s completed, hopefully next weekend. We have an upper-level deck that is small and was already built when we bought our house, but we are building a lower-level deck and another level below that with a built-in fire pit. I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge and the perfect size for fall and winter bonfires, morning yoga, and lounging with friends and family.
WISHING: I wrote on Instagram today that I’m taking advantage of the warm front we have happening this week, but I’d be lying if I said I weren’t really wishing for some fall weather.
***Honorable mention to the fact that the blog’s Instagram account reached (and now surpassed) 1000 FOLLOWERS since my last post! I love you all. A lot. I often feel I don’t have anything exciting or new to say, yet you’re all still here. So thank you.***
