I’m writing this as I drink coffee, lol.
A favorite blogger of mine, Allie at Be Up & Doing, does a post a couple times a year called “Let’s Get Coffee.” I love these posts, not only because they remind me of the old school Facebook notes (or Xanga if you’re old school) people would do where they would answer questions about themselves, but also because it’s a great way to get to know your online community (and people you know in real life). Life has been especially busy lately, which is a good thing, but it’s kept things pretty quiet around here. I haven’t posted on my blog in awhile and thought this would be a good way to get back into it. Since I’m basically just copycatting Allie’s idea, I’m going to use her same five questions (hope you don’t mind! love them!), but I’ll switch it up in the future.
- What albums or music have been on repeat?
- What’s one tip you’d give to someone trying to make friends as an adult?
- What time do you go to sleep? What time do you wake up?
- What’s one thing you’ve bought that saves you time or money?
- What’s your favorite season or holiday?
I’m not really a listen-to-the-album-straight-through sort of person, and I would rather listen to playlists or random songs. I have a Spotify account where you can check out my playlists (pretty sure they are all public), and one of my favorite playlists to listen to on there at any given time is titled “All My Days.” That being said, my favorite songs right now: “Way Over Yonder in The Minor Key” by Billy Bragg, “Georgia” by Vance Joy, and “Beth/Rest” by Bon Iver, “Heavy” by Birdtalker. None of these are particularly new, but I still can’t stop.
I wrote a post awhile back about how making friends in adulthood is like dating, so this one made me laugh. My advice would be that you’re not going to click or become best friends with everyone you meet, and that’s okay. And it’s okay to let friendships go if they no longer serve you. Bonus tip: You don’t have to spend all your time with someone when you’re an adult to still be friends. Who even has time for that?
My bedtime and wakeup times are so all over the place and I’m working on it. Lately I’ve been up way later than I’d like to be–I don’t go to bed until around midnight, give or take 30-60 minutes. I’ve been working quite a bit this month to get ahead on some new projects and August has been insane. As far as waking up, some mornings (especially when Isla has school) it’s around 7, and some mornings (like today) we have no plans and everybody sleeps until 9. I so envy people who are consistent with bedtimes and wakeup times. Maybe one day I’ll get better.
On Allie’s post, I answered that Spotify is the one thing I pay for that saves me money. I don’t have to buy albums, I don’t have to pay for satellite radio, etc. That being said, someone commented on her post about the budget tool “You Need A Budget.” Dom and I recently started this and oh my god. Love it. It’s everything we’ve been looking for and more. It makes setting and sticking to a budget so easy. We are still in the free trial but will be paying for the service ($5/month) once it’s over.
My favorite seasons are fall and winter. I’m not a warm weather or sunshine person. I like clouds and rain and snow, and I miss waking up to thick snow on the ground in the winter like we had in Ohio. I think snow is so romantic and I always have. As far as holidays, I love Christmas (duh) and July 4th. It’s in the heat of the summer which I hate, but I’m a sucker for fireworks.
