April showers bring May flowers, and I’m really feeling it over here. We’ve been having perfect rainy days, all my flowers are growing, and the backyard is getting pretty lush. Today we’re going to Lowe’s to pick up mulch and some flowers, get the yard looking good for spring, maybe building Isla a water table, and grab some Panera for dinner! What are your plans?
LOVING: All of these gorgeous spring blooms! My flowers are almost up (yay April!), the trees are turning green in our backyard, and the weather is perfect–not too hot, but definitely warming up. It’s been so nice to be able to enjoy the outdoors more with Isla. We need to make the backyard a little more fun for her, but we’re working on it and have some pretty good ideas coming up. Other exciting stuff in my life right now is that I just finished a project with my first referred client. Lana’s watercolor art is beautiful and working with her was a dream.
READING: Wild by Cheryl Strayed. I ended up watching the movie twice in March (once with Dom and once with my mom) a little bit after I started this and absolutely loved it. One of my close friends, Shannon, has talked up this book to me for quite awhile, and I’m really loving it so far. It’s really relatable to different parts of my life, and I love seeing Strayed’s development and hearing about all the hardships and achievements in her life. Next on my list is Pretty Happy by Kate Hudson (which I’ve heard rave reviews about from several different people) when it arrives at our library.
WATCHING: Girls. Absolutely obsessed with last week’s episode. Marnie and Charlie could be so perfect, if only. (WAH.) I hope this is a turn for the better in her life, and I can’t wait to see what happens with Shosh. We are also still finishing Dexter and just starting House of Cards. Not that impressed with the first episode though? Hopefully it picks up. I’ve heard mixed reviews.
ANTICIPATING: Not too much here, really. There’s a lot to be excited about in the next few months, though nothing super specific.
LISTENING TO: Maren Morris. This girl kills it. There’s not a bad song on her album. My best friend is helping put together a huge country concert in Ohio soon and Maren will be there. Wish I could go!
PLANNING: All the goals. It feels like a season of change, though I can’t put my finger on why. Probably just this time of year? April is when it really starts to feel like spring and good things seem like they are getting into gear. We have a family vacation coming up at the end of the month, lots of little projects, and I just feel like a lot of good things are coming!
WORKING ON: Myself. Obviously working on ourselves is one of the best investments we can make. I recently became a Beachbody coach and am working really hard on my health and fitness goals, but I’m also working on my relationships, my business, and my self development. I might have said this last month, but I recently downloaded an app called Streaks which aims to help you develop good habits. It’s seriously been life changing, as silly as that sounds. My goals each day are to walk 5,000-10,000 steps, eat two healthy meals, take my vitamins, read for 10 minutes, drink 64 oz of water, and to fill out my amaaaazing Day Designer planner (check it out for a free printable!) and Mom’s One Line A Day Five-Year Memory Book. Not every day is perfect, but it’s made a huge impact so far.
WEARING: Lots of workout gear! I joined the local Pure Barre studio in Fayetteville and just bought this Alo yoga tank which is the softest, most gorgeous fabric and I can’t wait to wear it! Pretty much just living in yoga gear lately and I’m definitely not mad about it.
WISHING: For nothing, really! It’s been a perfect spring so far, my hard work is starting to pay off in terms of work and otherwise, and I just feel really, really positive about 2016. It’s a pretty incredible feeling.
Happy April, ya’ll!
